Find Your Router's IP Address

Like your Computer, Routers typically have two IP addresses - an Internal (LAN - Local Area Network) and external WAN-IP (Wide Area Network). All of the standard default router IP addresses and even some rare ones are listed below.

These are the standard or most commonly used default router IP Addresses - click on one of the IP addresses below to test if one leads to your router:

If a password request dialog opens, then you have found your router's IP address - now you need only locate your login and password.

The above Router IP address are listed from the most common to the least common, so by testing each of them, you should find your router even if you do not know what make it is. By clicking the proper link you should find your router's control panel.

Your router's default internal IP address should be provided with its documentation - however, if you are reading this, you probably do not have access to it. Administrators often have the option to change this IP address during router setup, so if an administrator has changed your IP to something bizarre, you may be out of luck. Your private LAN-IP address remains fixed once set. It can be viewed from the router's admin panel which you can get to by clicking on one of the Router IP Address links above.

The external, WAN-IP address of the router is set when the router connects to the Internet service provider. This address can also be viewed on the router's administrative console. Your router's WAN-IP address is: 38.107.179.211

Another way to identify the public IP addresses of routers, involves using the "ping" or "traceroute" command. From your START menu, click "RUN", then command to get the command interface. Then type "ping -r 1"

This will send a message through the home router that will display its IP address. For example, "ping -r 1 www.google.com" should result in a message like the following displayed on the command prompt:

Reply from 65.74.230.44: bytes=38 time=212ms TTL=46
Route: 86.173.53.64

"Route: (86.173.53.64)" is the Router WAN-IP address of the computer you are testing.
